              The man with large breasts and hips was effeminate.

       The pungent trash made me throw up.

Lennie- large, shapeless, slow, heavy
   -Animal like, a bear, a child
*FOIL CHARACTERS TO EACH OTHER

2. obligated- hold onto his work card, Lennie copies him, George says “I could get along so easy without you”


3.to pet it in his pocket, George teaches him its bad

4. They got “run off the farm” for something Lennie did


Crucible Notes 11/3

Martha Corey laughs- town fool, comedic relief


Ruth Putnam says old man came upon her
Sees black man whispering- lying- all girls following along then fake passing out

Say you’re a witch- go to jail, Don’t confess- hang

Abigail still wants John, She called out his wife

“She bit my breast”- the cut hasn’t healed ,   Abi then stabs herself

“From the mouths of babes shall come the truth”- the judges believe the kids

Not faithful= don’t go to church enough-dislike Rev. Parris. John can’t recite all 10 commandements- forgets ADULTRY- IRONIC, his wife sure remembers


Rev. Hale thinks they aren’t holy enough

Proctor reveals that Abigail told them- just dancing, not witchery
Says to Rev. Hale, “Well if they don’t condess,they get hanged. Did you ever think of that?”

VOODOO DOLL- Mary gave doll to her. Looks like voodoo. Has a needle. Abigal stabbed herself with a needle. SET UP

Abigail kills chicken, goes crazy

Betty Parris (Reverend’s daughter) and Ruth Putnam are nonresponsive, but not sick

People think it’s the devil

Abigail wants John Proctor- his wife is “blackening her name”

Rev. Hale is called in from Beverly

Abigail blames Tituba- all a lie

Rev Hale beats Tituba

Tituba pretends she’s possessed, so it’s not her fault

Rev. Hale tries to exorcise Tituba- get devil out

Tituba calls out white people she dislikes

He said she said, girls go nuts- if they confess and want Jesus, they’ll be innocent
